What This Is

Music is my life. I have created this blog to express myself just like the other billions of music snobs. I hope all music lovers alike will enjoy.

Grateful Dead, Three From The Vault

When the first of the vault series came out in the early 90's I was about 16 years old. I already had their best of ( Skeletons From The Closet) and was hooked from day one. The day that I got the first Vault series was a moment in my life that I will never forget or want to. It was one of those few times that everything was very clear, musically speaking. This was the one moment that many other heads have shared that made it so very clear that no matter what this was not just a flash in the pan taste of the month band but something you could hold on to and turn to for the rest of your life. This is a band that after 13 years still gets me off EVERYTIME I listen to them. So now I'm 29 and still can't wait for the next Dicks Picks or the Vault series. I was definitly not let down with Three From The Vault. This is a dream show. It starts with a couple ditties then the whole catalogue opens up. You got Pigpen's swamp water voice that makes you fell like he's talking to you. The first disk ends with with a very powerful China/Rider thanks to Billy K. . The second disk has a very beautiful Bird Song but the most mouth watering treat is The Other One/Cryptical/Drums/The Other One. That trio alone is worth the price. You just can't go wrong with a NY show with the the core band (no Donna Jean or Mickey).
